Furniture & Mattress Store Owners: Mail Handwritten Thank-You Notes

I want to share with you a business strategy that by itself can have a dramatic and positive effect on your business. And get this, EVERYBODY reading this can immediately implement and use in their business. EVERY BODY!

It’s the power of the simple, handwritten business thank you letter or card. I know business owners that use Thank You cards as a primary marketing strategy and their results are phenomenal! Think about it. Who doesn’t like to be appreciated and thought of? This is an extremely powerful emotion you should be tapping into regularly and to help you consider when to send thank you cards, here’s a list of “thank you opportunities.”

• When you get a new customer
• Upon delivery of your product or service
• When an existing customer makes a purchase
• When someone gives you a referral
• When a peer gives you helpful advice
• As a follow-up after a store visit or phone call

In John F. Lawhon’s book, “Selling Retail” he described the difference between really good retail salespeople and the elite million dollar plus producers. The really good salespeople sent a Thank You to everyone who bought. The elite million dollar plus producer sent a Thank You to everyone they worked with whether they bought or not. As a retail salesperson working for someone else, I wrote Thank You notes on my own stationery with my own envelopes. It made a huge difference in my business. Four years after I left my last retail job customers were still asking for me according to my friends who still worked there.
